Red Penguin Marine congratulates National Grid and their partners in delivering the Viking Link interconnector as the world’s longest land and subsea HVDC interconnector, as recognised by Guinness World Records!

The team at Red Penguin Marine is proud to have worked as part of the Viking Link team for over 3.5 years, supporting the planning, preparation and mobilisations during the construction phase of the project.

Our 12th HVDC system marks the third record-breaking interconnector construction project where Red Penguin provided marine assurance, operational oversight, and/or technical expert support. This latest achievement underscores our commitment to representing our clients’ interests on offshore marine operations, as well as from Penguin HQ.

As we embark on the next wave of projects with National Grid and others, we eagerly anticipate employing our hard-won experience to ensure continued success in this highly specialised sector of the subsea cable industry. Together, we navigate the complexities of the evolving energy and telecoms landscapes, contributing to a sustainable and interconnected future.

We look forward to collaborating in creating the next Guinness World Record, whether that becomes the deepest, longest, or both!

Well done to all involved in the Viking Link project.
