Red Penguin mobilises teams of experienced cable industry professionals to provide comprehensive technical oversight and advice.  These support the delivery of safe operations and project objectives as laid down in contract requirements, and compliant with industry best practice.

Construction phase support, in the form of owner’s engineering and technical surveillance, is at the core of Red Penguin’s business. The company was established to bring practical marine command experience gained specifically in the installation and repair of submarine cables to several high profile HVDC interconnector projects. As a company, we have now managed or overseen the installation of more than 10,000km of submarine cable (interconnectors, wind farm cables and telecoms cables) and we remain at the forefront of ground-breaking construction projects as the sectors develop and mature.

This diverse portfolio has allowed us to establish and hone effective systems for surveillance and monitoring, with the ultimate aim of extending the client’s visibility and influence into the field. We maintain a network of experienced cable industry professionals with expertise in the full range of pre-construction and construction activities, from vessel audits, survey, route clearance and PLGR to cable lay, burial, protection and commissioning. We can (and do) coordinate large teams to support major projects, and small, responsive mobilisations alike.

Services we typically provide during the construction phase include:

  • Owner’s engineer services
  • Installation and Inspection
  • Compliance and Verification
