Red Penguin Marine is an international group of companies working together to provide subsea cable engineering and marine consulting services.

History

Founded in 2005, we are extremely proud of the reputation we have earned over the years for high quality, objective and reliable advice.

The company was founded by Chris Sturgeon in 2005 to provide the owners and developers of complex subsea cable systems the benefit of senior mariners hands-on experience.

We’ve since supported the successful completion of many high profile and challenging subsea cable projects in the power transmission, telecoms and oil and gas sectors of the marine industry.

We’re extremely proud of the reputation we have earned for high quality, objective and reliable advice, which coupled with commercially aware technical support helps our customers reduce risk and enables informed decision making.

Independence, integrity and insight

Since our inception, we’ve developed a hard-earned reputation for the quality, depth and breadth of our expertise, advise, support and insight, as well as our decades of industry experience.

We integrate and leverage extensive insight across the wider subsea market, including telecommunications, power, oil and gas and renewable energy, to offer you unique insight and value into cross-industry synergies.

A total commitment to quality and safety

We expect and ensure the highest standards of professional and personal integrity from our people and are committed to quality in every aspect of our operations, with ISO 9001/14001, 18001 and UVDB Verify accreditation’s.

Our approach to quality and safety is absolute. It starts with a systematic approach from the earliest stages of a project and continues via informed on site surveillance to enable reinforcement of HSE risk control and enhance the QA/QC process.

Our commitment includes a strong focus on consideration for the environment and the avoidance of harm.

The multidisciplinary nature of submarine cable projects requires access to a wide range of skill sets.

In addition to our full-time employees, we are able to draw upon a global talent pool of experienced and capable professional associates. These range from cable and civil engineers, route engineers and developers, cable ship commanders, project managers and electrical specialists right through to hydrographers, oceanographers, environmentalists, geophysicists, academics and commercial, law and permit specialists, all of whom are recognised experts in their respective field.

Consistency and quality are ensured through our management system which extends across the organisation, both on and offshore, allowing expert advice, skill and experience to flow freely in support of our work and clients.

Strong, sustainable and curious, we’ll challenge our own and others’ perceptions and reasoning to gain a deeper understanding and create a platform for innovative thought that avoids repetitive processes or robotic attitudes.

‘Because we’ve always done it this way’ is not a strategy for success in an industry that’s evolving rapidly. We are building our young team from a variety of backgrounds and industries, people with a thirst for knowledge. Our extensive industry experience together with their, fresh perspectives and innovative ways of approaching problems will help us stay ahead and succeed, so we can help our clients to do the same.
